The City Council approved a motion regarding funding for the 2025 wildfire emergency response and recovery.
On Jan. 7, the Mayor declared a state of emergency following the windstorm and wildfires that devastated the Pacific Palisades and surrounding areas, destroying thousands of homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure.
The road to recovery is long and costly, but the City is working around the clock to ensure a strong and timely emergency response. As part of this effort, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced that it will reimburse the City for 100 percent of debris removal and lifesaving activities for 180 days. However, federal and state aid requires the City to provide upfront funding, which has now been identified. This motion secures $50 million to initiate rebuilding efforts.
