Standing with Immigrant Families in Council District 9
Immigration is deeply personal for many Angelenos and it remains one of the most urgent challenges facing our communities today. As threats of family separation and mass deportations grow across Los Angeles, our commitment in Council District 9 is clear: we will stand with our immigrant neighbors, always.
Emergency Funding for Legal and Educational Support
To meet the moment, CD 9 has secured $400,000 in funding to strengthen critical services for immigrant families:
$200,000 for the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA)
$200,000 for the Central American Resource Center (CARECEN)
These trusted partners are providing free immigration legal services, Know Your Rights workshops, and community education in multiple languages to ensure our residents are informed, empowered, and protected.
A Track Record of Advocacy
Since 2017, Council District 9 has invested over $3 million in immigrant rights initiatives — from emergency legal clinics to rapid-response organizing. These investments are a promise that our community will not be left behind.

Your Rights, Your Voice
We encourage everyone to explore our Know Your Rights video series and downloadable "Green Cards" available in English and Spanish. These tools are designed to help families understand their constitutional rights and protect themselves in the event of an encounter with immigration authorities.
