On Monday, Councilmember Price joined Mayor Eric Garcetti at Kedren Community Health Center for the launch of Angeleno Corps, a service and education-driven program where college students are given the opportunity to earn a paycheck as they assist with community recovery efforts in areas most impacted by COVID-19.
Hundreds of Corps members will provide service over the course of 10 months at dozens of community organizations throughout the City, including Kedren Community Health Center and the Coalition for Responsible Community Development (CRCD) in District 9. For their efforts, members will receive a $1,000 monthly stipend and will gain work experience and educational opportunities.
“Career advancement has been one of the major impediments to Black and Brown individuals getting quality work opportunities so we must continue to think outside the box and do everything in our power to lift up the youth of South LA,” added Councilmember Price.
