The City Council approved two motions introduced by Councilmember Price to increase cleanup efforts in Council District 9. These initiatives will focus on expanding dedicated teams throughout the week, ensuring CD 9 neighborhoods remain clean and safe. The first motion moved over $360,000 to the Los Angeles Department of Sanitation & Environment (LASAN) for an additional illegal-dumping team for the remainder of the year. The second motion moved $150,000 to LASAN for overtime to address the illegal dumping issue occurring along Grand Ave.
The enhanced illegal-dumping schedule includes eight hours of service on Mondays and Fridays, and three hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. These regular cleanups will be supported by consistent updates that include data and performance metrics to measure progress and impact. In addition to these services, planning is underway for CARE+ Enhanced Services, which will be scheduled based on community priorities.
