Dear Neighbors,

I’m excited to announce a significant investment that marks a big win for our District 9 community! Together with the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, we’ve secured a $4.2 million Measure A grant for the South Los Angeles Wetlands Park.

This funding paves the way for a comprehensive Master Plan and much-needed upgrades, including permanent restrooms and the long-awaited rehabilitation of the historic bus yard for community use.

Over the past several months, we’ve been working closely with the Department of Recreation and Parks to enhance safety and cleanliness at this community treasure. This includes increasing security, adjusting park hours, providing daily restroom cleanings, and upgrading lighting. We’re also moving forward with repairs to the voltage cabinet that powers the park’s fountain with completion expected by April 2025.

And now, the most important part begins — shaping the future of the park together. Your voice will be key in helping us create a Master Plan that reflects what our community truly wants and needs. This plan will guide the environmental studies and construction to come.

Stay tuned for upcoming community meetings where we’ll gather your ideas and input. This is your park, and together, we’ll make sure it serves our community for generations to come. Check out a special video message below highlighting this initiative.
