The Los Angeles City Council's Budget and Finance, a committee which Councilman Price is on, began consideration of the Mayor’s 2022-23 Proposed Budget. Over the course of last week, the Committee has heard from the Economic and Workforce Development, the Bureaus of Public Works, Department of Transportation, Los Angeles Police/Fire Department, LA Sanitation, Recreation and Parks, Department of Cannabis Regulation, and many more. During the hearings, Councilman Price has asked questions focused on ensuring Departments have adequate funding and staffing to serve the 9th District and the City of Los Angeles as a whole.
Some of the highlights have included requesting additional funding for Universal Basic Mobility, increased resources for JEDI Zones, Good Food Zones, and Legacy Businesses; expanding programming at Expo Park; and Community Safety Partnership studies and assessments at Gilbert Lindsay Recreation Center.
Over the month of May, the Budget Hearings will continue as more City Departments present. The City Council must adopt the proposed Mayor’s budget by June 1. More on the budget here.
