I wanted to share some good news with you! On Sept. 30, we were thrilled to host the “South LA Strong Nonprofit Conference” at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College (LATTC) and showcase the impact the CD 9 Community Grants Program has had over the last year.
This initiative, which I was proud to lead, has been a game-changer for more than 90 community-based organizations who collectively have received $4.2 million in grants. Alongside the Coalition for Responsible Community Development (CRCD), who was selected as the Grant Administrator, we celebrated our success to empower local organizations to tackle critical issues related to youth, health & wellness, jobs and economic development, as well as social and economic justice.
The millions of dollars in funding has provided vital resources that have enabled local community groups to expand their reach here in the Ninth District. The impact of the CD 9 Community Grants Program has been far-reaching, touching the lives of over 53,000 neighbors in District 9.
Together, we've created opportunities to strengthen our South Central LA community. This is just the beginning, and I'm excited to see what the future holds for all of us.
