Dear Neighbors,
I’m grateful beyond words for the outpouring of love and support that hundreds of my closest family, friends, neighbors and colleagues demonstrated for my wife Del and I this week at my community swearing-in ceremony at the Banc of California Stadium. We laughed, we cried, we ate and partied, all night long! Let’s just say there were fireworks.
It was especially meaningful to have my dear friend Congresswoman Karen Bass administer my oath of office as I embark on my third and final term as Councilmember of the City of Los Angeles representing the NEW 9th!
Thank you to our performers: the Young Musicians Foundation, Mariachi Divas, Thomas Jefferson High School Marching Band, Dembrebrah West African Drum Ensemble, Banda Regional Oaxaqueña, Chelsea Nichole and Erin Stevenson. This truly was a party in honor of our community and celebration of unity.
District 9 is a perfect symphony of diversity and inclusion working in unison toward shared goals. In spite of the adversity, our CD 9 culture continues to be one of hope. We advance forward on a more dignified path as ONE brotherhood, sisterhood, CD9.
