On Jan. 25, our District Office served as a deployment site for the Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the dozens of volunteers who selflessly dedicated their time and energy to support the count in District 9.
The three-day initiative got underway on Jan. 22 as part of an annual census aimed at documenting the extent of homelessness across LA County. Through this collective endeavor, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) and its partners will be better equipped to advocate for crucial services and implement effective measures to address unsheltered homelessness.
Last year, Council District 9 saw a decline in the number of unsheltered neighbors, with South LA experiencing a 10 percent reduction compared to the previous year. Team Price remains steadfast in our commitment to tackling the homelessness crisis with urgency, compassion, and a holistic approach. Our efforts include expanding Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) and affordable housing to support working families and combat homelessness. By year's end, we anticipate the completion of over 3,900 units of affordable and homeless housing in District 9 alone. This achievement reflects years of dedicated work, and we take pride in our ongoing contributions.
The City of Los Angeles eagerly anticipates witnessing the positive impacts of such initiatives unfolding throughout our communities.
In solidarity,
