The City Council approved a measure to support hotel workers requiring employers to limit the daily workload of housekeepers, offer overtime pay, provide “panic buttons” for sexual harassment protection and do away with policies that automatically forgo daily cleaning. With the uprising of tourism in the City and County, the measure is intended to increase fairness for service industry workers.
Such as with the ordinance that will increase healthcare workers minimum wage, the item will return before the City Council for a second vote next week, as the initial vote was not unanimous.
