The Los Angeles City Council approved the Board of Public Works’ recommendation to endorse the revised project budget and coordinate the allocation of additional funding necessary for the Southern Pacific Trails/Slauson Connect Project in CD 9.

The report includes instructions to identify remaining funding sources for the project, potentially addressing the need for additional funds through grant opportunities. This action brings District 9 one step closer to reinvigorating and revitalizing a cherished corridor in the community.

Originally established in 2020, the Southern Pacific Trails will soon be home to Slauson Connect, an interactive multipurpose facility and a key stop along Metro’s “Rail to Rail” project. This Proposition K-funded initiative aims to beautify the railroad right-of-way, including landscaping, trails, and irrigation—all of which will remediate blight and add much-needed open space to our communities.
