Councilmember Price was excited to join St. John’s Well Child & Family Center on Dec. 8 for the grand opening of the Avalon Health and Access Center. The new facility- the first of its kind in South Los Angeles- is modeled as a patient-centered medical home and integrated drop-in center. It includes a food pantry, showers, laundry services, storage, safe places for pets, intensive case management support, primary and preventive medical care, dental care, benefits enrollment, and pharmacy services.
At the center, individuals will find refuge from the streets and access to a plethora of services and amenities designed to promote self-care, build inner strength, and ultimately independence.
“This is a truly innovative approach to engaging individuals experiencing homelessness in a welcoming, humane and dignified way,” said Councilman Price.
