The Los Angeles City Council approved a resolution declaring the week beginning Jan. 22, 2024, as Homeless Count Week. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires Continuums of Care to conduct a Point-in-Time count of homeless individuals once every two years. Through the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA), the City conducts annual counts to exceed the requirement. In 2023, there was a 10 percent increase from the previous year, resulting in increased efforts to combat homelessness.
Through this resolution, all City Departments and agencies are directed to support LAHSA and their volunteers throughout the count. To read the resolution, please click here.
