Dear Neighbors,

Please join me this Saturday, Sept. 19, for the 31st Annual Central Avenue Jazz Festival, a South LA tradition that has always been very special to me.

This year will be even more meaningful as it marks my final Jazz Festival as the Councilmember for Council District 9. I’m proud of what this event has become over the years, and I hope you’ll come out and celebrate with us.

We have a great lineup, including Tatiana Tate, Endea Owens and The Cookout, with the legendary Sheila E. headlining the festival.

There will also be great food, fun for the whole family and a special Club Alabam experience at 42nd Street and Central Avenue, featuring a unique tent buildout and photo experience.

The festival runs from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. along Central Avenue between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Vernon Avenue.

Parking will be limited, with additional spaces available at Wadsworth Avenue Elementary School, George Washington Carver Middle School and Harmony Elementary School. I encourage you to consider rideshare or other transportation options if possible.

Be sure to bring your comfortable shoes and hats and get ready for a great day of music, community and celebration.

For more information, please visit centralavejazzfest.com.

See you on Central Avenue!
