 Let’s win it for #34!
Dear Neighbors,

As tributes and memories pour in from fans and players alike, I find myself among the millions mourning the loss of LA Dodgers legend Fernando Valenzuela.

On the morning of Oct. 25, I drove through Elysian Park to Dodger Stadium to pay my respects—not just to a formidable baseball player, but to someone who served as a bridge, uniting our communities through his undeniable talent and passion for the game.

Affectionately known as “El Toro,” Fernando connected countries across the seas, drawing cheers from fans regardless of language, race, or origin. He embodied what it means to be a unifying force in America’s pastime.

In a poignant full-circle moment, during his rookie year, Fernando played a crucial role in the Dodgers' victory over the New York Yankees in the 1981 World Series. Now, as the team prepares to face the Yankees once again, starting tonight here at home, our guardian angel is sure to inspire our Boys in Blue to give it their all on the field.
