The City of Los Angeles launched Pride Month on May 31, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a special photo exhibit at the City Hall Bridge Gallery and a presentation in City Council honoring individuals from across Council Districts.
Councilmember Price recognized Ricardo Márquez from District 9, a first-generation Latino from El Salvador and proud South Central LA resident, who has led a life dedicated to breaking generational cycles and embracing authenticity. With a notable academic background including a BA in Political Science and triple minors in Spanish, Pre-Law, and Criminal Justice from Daemen University, Ricardo is a committed advocate for justice and equity.
Currently serving as a Housing Stabilizer at LA Family Housing, Ricardo supports vulnerable individuals in transitioning out of homelessness, delivering vital services daily. His community dedication shines through roles as Treasurer for the South Central Neighborhood Council and Board Member for the Newton Community Police Advisory Board and the Latino Coalition of Los Angeles.
“Ricardo's leadership, passion, and integrity serve as a true inspiration, setting a high standard for South LA and empowering BIPOC communities through engagement, coalition building, and policy advocacy,” said Councilmember Price.
