In an effort to reduce harmful language during City Council meetings, a motion was introduced and passed to initiate the process of restricting the use of the N- and C-words.

While respecting the importance of free speech, the Council recognizes that deeply offensive language can diminish public participation and disrupt the proceedings of official meetings. Accordingly, the City Attorney has been directed to propose amendments to the Council Rules that will prohibit specific defamatory language.
