Dear Neighbors,

On Nov. 19, the Los Angeles City Council took decisive action by advancing a "Sanctuary City" ordinance designed to protect undocumented individuals and mixed-status families from the intimidation tactics of the Trump administration.

As a representative of one of the City’s largest immigrant communities, I was thrilled to see our Council’s unanimous vote, which reaffirms our commitment to protecting the safety and well-being of all Angelenos, regardless of their immigration status.

Sanctuary cities are not just a legal framework; they represent a moral commitment to upholding human dignity, keeping families together, and ensuring that everyone, regardless of their citizenship status, can live without fear.

Trump has had his say, but now it is our turn to respond—with decisive action and the full force of the law on our side. The City of Angels must live up to its name by standing with our undocumented neighbors, guaranteeing their stability and security without the looming threat of deportation.

The new ordinance is expected to go into effect before the end of this year.

In solidarity,
