A Thanksgiving Miracle

I-10
Dear Neighbors,

The I-10 freeway, between the East L.A. interchange and Alameda Street, which has been shut down in both directions since Nov. 11, is now projected to reopen Nov. 21, right before the Thanksgiving holiday. As the investigation into the cause of the fire which caused significant damage to this major artery continues, respective agencies are working around-the-clock to get the freeway back up and running.

While this is encouraging news, we are not completely out of the woods yet. For the time being, Angelenos are urged to use public transportation to avoid traffic resulting from the shutdown of the 10 freeway. As a reminder, both the Commuter Express and DASH bus lines will be free of charge, helping Angelenos reach downtown. If you must drive, it is recommended that you stay on the freeway and transfer to the 60, 5, and 101 to alleviate traffic on our streets. Additionally, Mayor Bass has directed LADOT to assist in making the LA Metro E line, which runs along the closure area of the 10 freeway, operate faster. Metrolink is also expanding its service and capacity to ensure riders can get where they are going on time and without stress. Click here for more information on how Metrolink can help you bypass the gridlock.

During this challenging time, residents should refer to the City of LA's Emergency Management Department for the latest updates at Emergency.lacity.gov/updates. This resource provides crucial information on public transit options, road closures, and detour routes.

You can also stay informed by following @MayorOfLA, @ReadyLA, @CaltransDist7, @LADOTofficial, @MetroLosAngeles, @Metrolink, and @LAFD on social media.

While we work through this ordeal, continue to plan ahead, explore public transit options and exercise patience and kindness as our City, State, and National partners diligently work towards a prompt resolution.
