On Wednesday, the Los Angeles City Council approved a Budget and Finance Committee report based on a motion seconded by Councilman Price regarding pilot programs for unarmed alternatives to policing at GRYD zones most affected by the recent gun violence surge. Within this motion, over $2 million will be distributed based on need. In CD 9, the Newton Division station will receive a portion of the funding as the increase of gun violence was in the top 10 within the City. Click here for more.
